- Working the body harder than what it is use to
- Gradually increasing the levels of training

- The training program is required to match the specific sport and activity
- Benefit the stamina and ability to work at the same intensity

- Each individual has different training requirements, the program needs to reflect those requirements
- Increase fitness levels and build strength
