Type 2 Diabetes
most common form. cells do not use insulin properly. combination of insulin resistance and impaired insulin production leads to hyperglycemia
Metabolic Syndrome: 5 characteristics
1) Waist Circumference
2) Elevated Triglycerides
3) Reduced HDL Cholesterol
4) Blood Pressure of 130/85 mmHG or more
5) Fasting Blood Glucose of 100 mg/dL or more
Pregnant Women: Avoid (5)
Extensive jumping, hopping, skipping, bouncing, or running
Deep knee bends, full sit-ups, double leg raises
Contact sports

Activities where falling is likely
Pregnant Women: Mode, Intensity, Duration, Frequency
Mode: Aerobic and Strength-conditioning exercises
Intensity: Light to Moderate Intensity (9-13 RPE)
Duration: 15 minutes build up to 30 minutes
Frequency: 3 days per week
Youth: Mode, Intensity, Duration, Frequency
Mode: Sustained activities that use large muscle groups
Intensity: Low Intensity gradually progressing
Duration: 60+ mins
Frequency: Daily
