ACC/AHA Guidelines Flashcards
1
Q
Major clinical risk predictors (active cardiac conditions).
What to do when pt has these?
A
Unstable or severe angina recent MI significant arrhythias severe valvular disease decompensated heart failure
If they have these-cancel surgery unless it’s emergent
2
Q
What are the revised clinical risk predictors RCRI. Elaborate on 3 of them (you know which ones)
A
Ischemic Heart disease: history of MI positive stress use of NTG complaints of chest pain 2/2 coronary ischemia EKG with abnromal Q waves
CHF pulmonary edema paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea peripheral edema bilateral rales s3 heart sound
Cerebrovascular disease Hx of TIA Hx of CVA preoperative insulin tx fro DM Preop creatinine higher than 2 mg/dL
Take type of surgery into consideration as well
3
Q
When would you give a person with no clinical risk factors an EKG?
A
If they are undergoing vascular surgery
