ABO Incompatibility in HSCT Flashcards
What medication can you use for pure red cell aplasia that happens in patients undergoing HSCT?
Daratumumab
What CD molecule and on what cells does Daratumumab target?
CD38 on plasma cells and plasmablasts.
What is a side effect seen with Daratumumab in the setting of pure red cell aplasia with a HSCT?
Hypogammaglobulinemia.
When dealing with ABO incompatibility with a SCT and a patient needs a blood transfusion in the setting of a major ABO mismatch what blood type should the patient receive?
The blood transfusion should be of the recipients blood type.
When dealing with a minor ABO mismatch in the setting of a transplant, what blood product should the patient receive?
For a minor mismatch the patient should receive the donors blood type.
In the setting of a major ABO mismatch with a transplant, what type of plasma product do you give?
You give plasma of the donor blood type.
In the setting of minor ABO mismatch with a transplant, what type of plasma product do you give?
You give the recipients blood type.
In the setting of a bidirectional mismatch what type of blood product and plasma product do you give?
Blood-O type always!
Plasma-AB type always!
