Combining drugs and CBT to treat depression
AIM- see if using drug therapy followed by CBT reduced relapse rates for patients with depression compared to using drugs only.
Procedure- 40 patients (experiance at least 3 episodes of depression) assigned to 1 of 2 treatment conditions drugs followed by CBT ( drugs and clinical management)
Findings
25% of patients who had drug therapy followed by CBT has relapses
80% of patients had relapses alternative to ling term drug treatment
Evalusation - study showed diadvantage of administrating the treatments sequentically

Found that a 15 month foolow up significantly more patentd were abstaining from alcohol after psychoanalysis than after CBT

Rewied studies of CBT and found 16 published meta-analyses from this they concluded CBT was effective for tteating depression genarlised anaxity oanic disorders and social phobijas it was also moderatly effective for marital distess anger and chronic pain
