  1. Bleeding: (incidence 15%, lethal 0.5%) short therapy → less bleeding complications
  2. Hypersensitivity rxn: in streptokinase, anistreplase, staphylokinase.

Plasma fractions are cryopreciptates from whole blood. It is given for deficiencies in plasma coag factors.

What is the route of administration and DOA of Vitamin K?

A

Vitamin K can be given orally or IV (IV can be problematic, can cause dyspnea, chest and back pain, possibly death). The onset of effect delayed by at least 6 hours, complete effect is not seen until 1 day has passed. Routine admin for all newborns, esp. premature.

A

EACA are Competitive antagonist at lysin binding sites of plasminogen. Structurally EACA are similar to lysin.

What is the MOA of Aprotinin?

A

Aprotinin is a serine protease inhibitor, isolated from cattle lung. It inhibits not only plasmin, but tryspin, kallikrein, chymotrypsin. No absorption from oral admin. parenteral use only.
