What are compulsions?
repetitive behaviors or mental acts that an individual feels driven to perform in response to an obsession or according to rules that must be followed rigidly

What is the two stage operant conditioning model in OCD
Obsession = pairing mental stimuli with anxiety provoking thoughts
Compulsion = neutral behavior that has been associated with anxiety reduction and thereby reinforced
Physiology of OCD
Involves 5-HT and DA
Increased metabolic activity in the caudate nucleus and orbital gyrus and frontal cortex
