7 Dimensions of ABA
B = Behavioral A = Applied T = Technological
C = Conceptually Systematic A = Analytic G = Generality E = Effective
Applied
Focusing on choosing socially significant target behaviors to modify
Behavioral
Directly something that a person does that can be observed and measured
operational definition is essential
Technological
All operative procedures are identified and described with sufficient detail and clarity
- Could a person replicate the intervention after reading your description?
Conceptually Systematic
Procedures derived from a few basic principles of behavior
Antecedent, Behavior, Consequence (ABCs)
Reinforcement, Punishments
Motivating Operations (MOs)
Effective
Behavior changes are significant enough to be of practical importance
Clinically or Socially significant
Generality
A behavior that lasts over time
Appears in the environment other than the one in which the intervention that initially produced it was implemented
Spreads to other behaviors not directly treated by the intervention
Baer, Wolf, Risley (1968)
The central article defining the field of Applied Behavior Analysis
