What is an alloy

A

A mixture of metals or metals mixed with other materials

Why are metals malleable

A

Because they are elements and contain only one type of atom and their atoms line up in layers so when a force is applied the layers slide over each other and the block shape changes without breaking. In an alloy the mix of atoms makes it difficult for it to xxpalide across each other
