Scope (105)
The responsibilities, requirements, and procedures contained herein apply to all persons involved w/ flight ops on all CVN or CV type ships
Purpose
This manual issues policy, guidance, and info for CV COs, air officer, air ops officer, air wing commanders, squadron COs, det OICs, and aircrew aboard CV and CVN type ships.
Advisory Control (105)
A form of ATC in which the controlling agency monitors radar and radio contact w/ a/c under its control and provides traffic advisories.
Traffic separation is the responsibility of the individual pilot w/ the assistance provided by the controlling agency
Air operations
The section of the ops department responsible for coordinating all matters pertaining to air ops including CATCC
Base Recovery Course
The ships magnetic heading during flight ops
BINGO
Order to proceed and land at the field specified (emergency fuel)
CATCC
Carrier Air Traffic Control Center: ATC for carrier. Responsible to air ops officer for safe, orderly, and expeditious separation of A/C w/in area of jurisdiction and providing ATC services to a/c during launch and recovery

Carrier control area
50 NM radius
Surface to infinity
Control of CATCC (except for those under control of air officer during Case I/II)
CCA
Carrier controlled approach: an approach executed under control of CATCC (PAR for Carriers)

Surface to 2500’ unless otherwise designated
Cognizance of air officer during VMC
CHARLIE
Signal to land.
Number suffix indicates time to delay (i.e. Charlie 5 Spot 5 means go to spot 5 in 5 minutes.
Concurrent ops
Sequential launch and recovery of fixed wing and rotary wing a/c in the same cycle
DELTA (signal)
A signal given to hold and conserve fuel
Departure control
Control position in CATCC responsible for departures and monitoring fuel requirements for a/c
EEAT
Emergency expected approach time: future time at which to conduct departure/arrival if lost comms
