The consequence of the belief of the superiority of people without a disability over people with a disability

What theories are implied in people first practice?
Medical Model, Social Model and Radical Model
What is the medical model in people first and its challenges?
it roots in medicine and aims to prescribe medication, it states that it isa disabling condition that need professional help, it describes a disability as a personal tragedy and interventions are aimed at being normal.
Challenges: Static uniform characteristics to diagnoses that not everyone will experience, it denies and disability cannot be cured, and the disability is the individuals primary identity
What is the social model in people first and what are its challenges?
It seeks to contemtualize a disability by distinguishing impairment from disability, it argues that impairment is a result of physical limitations where as a disability is a result of oppression
Challenges: risks discounting the individual entirely and rejects clinical based interventions.
What is the radical model to people first?
Says there is nothing wrong with anyone, disability is apart of human nature and human diversity and tragedy is not the disability but rather oppression and exclusion.
