- measles virus/ morbilivirus
- virus replicates in throat and nose first
- then respiratory tract
- then other parts via bloodstream
- airborne and direct contact

Clinical Manifestations
A
- fever
- dry cough and sore throat
- runny nose
- conjunctiva
- koplik’s spots (white spots in mouth)
- skin rash

Diagnostic Tests
A
- examine skin rash
- check for symptoms
- blood test (to determine presence of virus)
- throat swab and urine sample (to determine presence of virus)

Treatments
A
- no specific treatments
- isolation nursing
- treatments for underlying symptoms
- antipyretic
- antibiotic (infection in lung and throat)
