Causes of Dengue Fever

- Arbovirus by female aedes mosquito
- dengue fever, haemorrhagic fever, dengue shock syndrome
- 4 types Arbovirus

Clinical Manifestations
A
- prodromal: fatigue, headache
- high grade fever
- nausea, vomiting
- myalgia (muscle pains)
- arthralgia (joints and bones pain)

Diagnostic Tests

- tourniquet test (count petechiae
- blood serology test (less than normal)

Treatment
A
- fever (antipyretic)
- muscle & joint pain (NSAIDs; analgesic)
- antihistamines to relieve skin itchiness

Nursing Care
A
- CRIB
- dim room to ease photophobia
- comfy environment to rest
- limit visitors
- closely monitor for shock during fever lysis

What are shock clinical manifestations ?
A
- cold and clammy skin
- cyanosis
- rapid, shallow breathing (tachypnea)
- restlessness
- hypotension
