737 Landing Gear Flashcards
If one of the green lights on the landing gear is not illuminated what is an alternate way to determine if is down.
As long as one of the green lights either on the forward panel or the overhead panel is green this is confirmation that the gear is down and locked
What is the meaning of the amber AUTO BRAKE DISARM light?
This can mean a number of things:
1. The SPEED BRAKE lever moved to down detent during RTO or landing.
- manual brakes applied during RTO or landing
- Thrust levers advanced during RTO or landing (Except during the first 3 seconds after touchdown or landing)
- Landing made with RTO selected
- RTO selected on ground (illuminates for two seconds and then extinguishes)
- a malfunction exists in the braking system.
Explain the meaning of the amber ANTISKID INOP light.
A system fault is detected by the anti skid monitoring system.
What is the function of the landing gear override trigger.
Allows the Landing Gear lever to be raised, bypassing the landing gear lever lock which is used on the ground to prevent inadvertent raising of the gear lever.
Is antiskid available in the alternate braking system.?
Yes. And auto brakes are available.
NOTE: Antiskid is available even with the loss of both hydraulic systems.
Which hydraulic system powers the normal brakes?
System B.
Which hydraulic system powers alternate brakes?
Does the auto brake system work with hydraulic system B?
System A. If system B (main hydraulic) fails there is an automatic switch to System A.
No.
Which system pressurizes the brake accumumlator?
System B. If Both A and B systems are lost there is still enough pressure left in the accumulator for several applications but Auto brakes are not available.
Which system does the parking brake use?
Either system A or B. If neither A or B are available the accumulator will provide pressure to the parking brake. However, the accumulator will only provide one application of parking brakes.
How are the auto brakes disarmed?
- Moving the SPEED BRAKE to the down detent.
- Advancing the forward thrust lever
- Applying manual brakes
- Moving the selector switch to OFF.
If the aircraft is below 800 ft RA with the throttles at idle, what are the indicators if the landing gear is not down and locked?
A warning horn and Red gear warning lights on the panel.
How many degrees of steering are provided by the rudder pedals? How about the tiller?
7 degrees
78 degrees
What does the brake pressure gauge on the panel indicate?
Brake accumulator pressure.
Can the AUTO BRAKE system be used if the ANTI SKID system is inoperative?
NO.
What is the speed above which the RTO braking system will activate if the thrust levers are closed?
90 kts. If a rejected takeoff occurs below this speed manual brakes must be applied.
