7.1 Study Guide Flashcards
1
Q
Order and events of Cell Cycle?
A
G1, (G0), S, G2, then M. G1 prepares for replication. G0 is where it goes if there isn’t enough resources, S checks on DNA then replicates it, G2 continues it’s growth and M splits it.
2
Q
What are stimulatory proteins? What do they do?
A
Growth factors, Cyclins, CDKS. They all enhance the rate of growth and repair.
3
Q
What is the inhibitory protein?
A
P53, it stops cells from growing.
4
Q
What are the function of proto-oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes?
A
To stimulate cells and the other stops them.
5
Q
Why do mutations in oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes lead to cancer?
A
Because it accelerates the growth process too much to handle.
