What are the seven strengths when using Mind Maps? and what are the three weaknesses?
A
Strengths:
- The main idea placed in the centre makes it more clearly defined.
- Levels of importance are shown with the more important ideas closer to the centre.
- Linking concepts shows their association
- Information recall will be more effective
- The addition of new information is easy
- Each map is personalised to the individual
- The open nature makes for more creative connections.
Weaknesses:
- Temptation to follow the structure linear method of note taking, takes away the mind mapping flow.
- Does not always covert information to others.
- They are not a group tool and do not allow collaboration.

What are the 5 steps to creating a mind map?

- Identify main idea
- Main idea to the centre of page
- Draw related issues, persons, objects
- Continue with any related thoughts, use sub branches.
- As you discover a new idea that expands on a key word, branch it off from the key word.
