- realized that the reason most people were not converting t ochristinaity was because of circumcision, so he preached that instead of circumcision, they could get baptized instead
- preached that salvation came from faith in Jesus christ rather than the law
- christ as the fulfillment of the law - believed that jesus’s life, death, and resurrection fulfilled all the requirements of the jewish law (jesus died for our sins) so that the non-jews didn’t need to follow all of the jewish customs like circumcision, dietary laws to be Christian
(this was important because it made Christianity accessible to non-jews and distinguished it from judaism)
