Q

Maximum Detection Range of Rmax

A
  • Assumes nothing blocks propagation
  • Depends on RADAR, target characteristics, and spreading

Q

Maximum Detection Range of ROTH

A
  • Assumes signal is strong enough to propagate out and back
  • Depends on HR, HT, curvature of the Earth, and bending of radio waves

Q

Relationship of Rmax, Smin, and Preceived

A

Smin is the minimum Preceieved required by the RADAR to detect a return signal.

The max range that a return signal can be detected occurs when Smin = Preceived

Q

Receiver Sensitivity

A

Small Smin is desirable

  • Higher sensitivity
  • Increased detection ability
  • Increased Range

Lower Sensitivity = Lower Smin = Higher Rmax
