6 - Optimizing RADAR Detection Flashcards
1
Q
Pulse RADAR Detection Ranges
A
Detectable return:
- Range >_ Rmin
- Range_< Rmax
- Range_< ROTH
Correct target:
- Range_< ROTH
2
Q
Maximum Detection Range of Runamb
A
Dependent on PRF only
3
Q
Maximum Detection Range of Rmax
A
- Assumes nothing blocks propagation
- Depends on RADAR, target characteristics, and spreading
4
Q
Maximum Detection Range of ROTH
A
- Assumes signal is strong enough to propagate out and back
- Depends on HR, HT, curvature of the Earth, and bending of radio waves
5
Q
Relationship of Rmax, Smin, and Preceived
A
Smin is the minimum Preceieved required by the RADAR to detect a return signal.
The max range that a return signal can be detected occurs when Smin = Preceived
6
Q
Receiver Sensitivity
A
Small Smin is desirable
- Higher sensitivity
- Increased detection ability
- Increased Range
Lower Sensitivity = Lower Smin = Higher Rmax
