6 - compartments Flashcards
anterior arm is innervated by
musculocutaneus
muscles in the anterior arm
coracobrachialis, brachialis, biceps brachii
coracobrachialis
from coracoid process on the scapula and attatches at the brachium
brachialis
originates from the brachium
starts when coracobrachialis finishes, inserts into the ulnar tuberosity
biceps brachii
has two heads - both start at scapula
first one starts at coracoid process
other one starts at supraglenoid tubercle
combines into one muscle
action of the anterior arm
flexion
a degree of adduction and internal rotation as well
innervation of posterior arm
radial nerve
innervation of brachialis
musculocutaneous
action of the posterior arm
triceps brachii
triceps brachii
three heads
common insertion in the olecranon process
only head to cross the glenohumeral joint
long head f triceps brachii
heads of the triceps brachii
medial lateral and long
muscles forming boundary of the quadrangular space
lng head of triceps brachii
teres major and minor
surgical neck of the humerous
which nerve goes through the quadrangular space
axillar nerve
anterior forarm is supplied by
the median nerve
ulnar innervates part of the flexor digitorum profundus
action at the anterior forearm
flexion
superficial muscles of the anterior forearm
pronator teres flexor carpi radialis palmaris longus flexor digitorum superficialis flexor carpi ulnaris
pronator teres
flexes the elbow and also pronates the elbow
flexor carpi radialis
inserts into the metacarpals
flexor of the carpis on the radial side
palmaris longus
inserts into the fascia of the palm
small muscle - may not be there at all
deep muscles of tthe anterior forearm
pronator quadratus
flexor pollicis longus
flexor digitorum profundus
flexor digitorum superficialis
gives off tendons into the hand
does not cross distal phalangeal joint - can only flex proximal phalangeal
flexor carpi ulnaris
flexes the carpal joints at the ulnar side
pronator quadratus
quadrangualar shape forforming pronation at the distal forearm
flexor pollicis longus
runs through the carpal tunnel and along the ventral aspects of the thumb
flexor digitorum profundus
passes deep and distal to the flexor digitorum superficialis to cross dristal interphalanges and perform flexion
nerve innervation of the posterior forearm
radial nerve
superficial muscles of the posterior forearm
extensor carpi ulnaris extensor digiti minimi extensor digitorum extensor carpi radialis brevis extensor carpi radialis longus brachioradialis
