what do antibiotics do?
kill bacteria or stop them growing and cure bacterial diseases
what is salmonella caused from
- eating undercooked food when bacteria have not been killed by heating
- food prepared in unhygienic conditions - where food is contaminated with salmonella bacteria from raw meat
symptoms of salmonella
fever, abdominal cramps, vomiting, diarrhoea caused by bacteria and toxins they secrete
in children and elderly can be fatal, mostly due to dehydration
do you take medicine for salmonella
usually medicines aren’t needed because it lasts 8-72hrs
how can you prevent salmonella
- keeping raw chicken away from food that is uncooked
- avoid washing raw chicken
- wash hands and surfaces
- cook chicken thoroughly
how is gonorrhoea spread
unprotected sexual contact with an infected person

thick yellow or green discharge from v or p and pain on urination
