4D Flashcards
Kurt lewin’s force field analysis(n.)
-Kurt Lewin’s Force field Analysis(n.)=is a theoretical model that determines if businesses should proceed with a proposed change.
Driving forces(n.)
-Driving forces(n.)=Factors affecting the business environment that promote and support business change.
Restraining forces(n.)
-Restraining forces(n.)=Factors that resist a business change or actively try to prevent it.
Weighting(v.)
-weighting(v.)=The process of scoring and attributing a value to the driving and restraining forces
Ranking(v.)
-Ranking(v.)=Arranging the forces in order of value and determining the total score of driving and restraining forces.
Implementing a response(v.)
Implementing a response(n.)=and involves the action that can be taken to strengthen the driving forces, reduce or eliminate the restraining forces, and/or the actual execution of the change.
Evaluating the response(v.)
Evaluating a response(n.)=, evaluating the response is the assessment of whether the change has been successfully implemented or if further actions need to be taken.
Advantages and disadvantages of Force field analysis
Force field analysis=
-Advantages=
-save time
-ensures changes that are more likely to be successful are implemented
-Saves money(as likelihood of success increase, less money and resources wasted if the change was unsuccessful.)
-saves money
-disadvantages=
-time consuming process
-requires resources such as money to undertake the analysis
Advantages
-analysis takes into account the whole business environment, hence a more well-informed change can be made.1
- enables the business to examine if the proposed change can be implemented successfully, which can save the business time and money as it would only implement the changes where success is likely.
Disadvantages
-is that it can be a time-consuming process and delays the actual implementation of the change until after the analysis has been completed.
- it can be costly, due to the business resources required to undertake the analysis.4
Advantages=
-Business can examine if change will be successful
-Force field analysis takes into account whole business environment.
-conducting analysis can help determine sources of employee resistance=and allow opportunities to address and change them
-Leads to higher likelihood of change being successful.
-save time by promoting the main driving forces and limiting the main restraining forces
-Business can save money by only implementing change that has a high success rate
Disadvantages=
-Can be time consuming, especially if a business is already aware f the need for mandatory change. E.g. legislative change needed.
-Conducting analysis will require business resources, at a cost for the business.
