4.5 SG Flashcards
How is the molecular dipole related to the bond dipoles?
Finally, the relationship between the bond dipoles and molecule dipole is that the polarity is characteristic of each bond and is due to the difference of electronegativity between the bonded atoms, while the sum of all the polarities of the bonds in the molecule results in the polarity of the molecule.
Why is it important to take both the polarity of the bonds and the shapes of the molecule into consideration when determine the polarity of the molecule?
if the shape is so that the pulling and pairing can be equally distributed like in a straight line, it most likely would not be polar.
