PURPOSE
To provide standard operations and response at an active assailant incident
GENERAL
An active assailant incident involves one or more individuals who are engaged in a _____ process of injuring a large number of individuals. DEFINITIONS
Active Assailant(s) – An individual or individuals actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill/injure people in a confined and populated area. In most cases active assailants have no apparent ____ or method to their selection of victims.
Active Assailant Incident – Active assailant incidents are unpredictable and evolve quickly. Typically, the immediate deployment of law enforcement personnel is required to stop the assault and mitigate harm to victims. Active assailant incidents are often over before law enforcement arrives on the scene, usually within ___to ___ minutes.
Casualty Collection Point (CCP) – A location(s) where fire-rescue personnel can receive patients from law enforcement personnel.
