A

An official definition, or rules that exist for various aspects of computing.

Why are standards important?

A

Standards play a pivotal role when it comes to allow devices to communicate with each other. Without standards, manufacturers would have no common ground on which to build their systems. Interconnecting products from different manufacturers would be close to impossible.
