1.1.8 - Describe the importance of user documentation. Flashcards
What is user documentation?
User documentation is any document that teaches the user how to use the features and functions of the system.
Why is user documentation important?
It is important as without detailed instructions for the user, they may be unaware of features in the system or unable to use those features. They’re are made to guide users through the steps of using the system and therefore increasing productivity. If the user documentation is simple then system implementation can occur faster.
Describe 3 properties of a good user documentation.
1) It’s non-technical (as opposed to system documentation).
2) It covers installation, operation and troubleshooting.
3) It has sample data and screens.
When switching systems, why is good user documentation important?
It can be challenging to make users switch to the new system, but good user documentation eases the transition.
