What makes an issue in eligible for alternative dispute resolution process
Class I violations
Egregious violations that will threaten the integrity of the department
Who can refer an issue to ADR with the recommendation that they be mediated?
Division commanders
Issues received by Central Intake Office (CIO) shall be screened

No, it’s waived. An employee cannot object to a meeting because a 48 hour notice isn’t given.
Who is allowed to participate in a mediation meeting?
The involved parties and the mediator.
Who can bring a weapon to a mediation session?
No one. No exceptions.
How long does an employee have to confirm their attendance for a scheduled meeting?
24 hours
When shall a mediation be stopped?
If the mediator is unable to control the meeting.
Who appoints a mediator?
An ADR supervisor.
- however each party shall have an opportunity to participate in the selection process.

Impasse
Options for handling unresolved issues:
A) return to CIO B) C) Refer to Assistant chief over ADR - can close an issue if there is an impasse and parties refuse to participate. -mediation is the appropriate first
B) refer to another section of ADR
When an issue is resolved through mediation and is closed. Shall not be eligible for resolution in any other department process
Resolved issue
All mediators are required to wear
Male: suit tie or sport coat tie.
Female: business suit and blouse combination or conservative dress, pantsuit or blouse and skirt combination.
