3 c) Reversible Reactions and Equilibria Flashcards
1
Q
Catalyst
A
Substance that speeds up a chemical reaction by providing an alternative pathway of lower activation energy. Catalysts are not used up and remain chemically unchanged at the end of the reaction.
2
Q
Dynamic equilbrium
A
The concentration of reactants and products in a reversible reaction remain constant but the reactions are still continuing. The rate of the forward reaction is equal to the rate of the reverse reaction.
3
Q
Pressure
A
The force acting on something per unit area, caused by molecules hitting the walls of their container.
