What is gene regulation
A
Genes can be turned on and off to save energy.

What is a regulatory Gene?
A
responsible for making proteins that turn gene expression on and off

How is a gene stopped from being read?
A
an active repressor comes and binds to the operator site of said gene.

How does it know where to go?
A
A protein that has high levels within the cell will bind to the repressor molecule, telling it what gene-operator site to go to.
