275b CLL Flashcards
Chronic Lymphoid Leukemia - mature or blast cells? what kind of cells? where is the disease? who gets it?
mature - B cells
blood + BM
older adults
Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) - Age?
> 60 years
Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) - what kinds of cells? how is small lymphocytic lymphoma different (SLL)?
B-cells: CD 19, 20+, CD5+ (normally on T-cells)
SLL is in lymph node not BM
Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) - peripheral blood smear?
CLL cells look normal, but are more fragile –> smudge cells
Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) - presentation?
often asymptomatic– progresses slowly
infections late in disease - bacterial usually
Hairy Cell Leukemia - cell appearance? stain?
filamentous, hair like projections
TRAP +
Hairy Cell Leukemia - RX?
cladribine (2-CDA)
purine (adenosine) analog –I adenosine deaminase
Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) - peripheral blood smear?
CLL cells look normal, but are more fragile –> smudge cells
Adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma - what kind of cells? who gets it? what causes it?
mature T cells
adults
HTLV-1 (w/ IV drug use) –> intergrates into T cell DNA
Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) - presentation?
often asymptomatic– progresses slowly
infections late in disease - bacterial usually
Adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma - presentation? smear appearance?
cutaneous lesions
lytic bone lesions –> hypercalcemia
“flower” appearance of lymphocytes
Sezary Syndrome/Mycosis fungoides - cells?
mature T cells, CD4+
cutaneous lymphoma (itching) –> spreads to nodes and viscera (organomegaly)
indolent
?Hairy Cell Leukemia - RX?
cladribine (2-CDA)
purine (adenosine) analog –I adenosine deaminase
Large Granular Lymphocyte Leukemia - cells? clinical presentation? smear?
T cell
neutropenia –> recurrent infections
larger lymphocyte with granules
Adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma - what kind of cells? who gets it? what causes it?
mature T cells
adults
HTLV-1 (w/ IV drug use)
