252 Pharmacology - Adrenergic Drugs Flashcards
Adrenergic drugs
Drugs that stimulate and mimic the actions of the sympathetic nervous system; also called sympathomimetics
Adrenergic receptors
Specific receptor sites located throughout the body for the endogenous sympathetic neurotransmitters norepinephrine and epinephrine.
Response to stimulation of alpha-1 receptor on blood vessels
constriction
Response to stimulation of Beta-2 receptor on blood vessel
dilation
Response to stimulation of B1 receptor on cardiac muscle
increased contractility
Response to stimulation of B1 receptor on AV node?
Increase heart rate
Response to stimulation of B1 receptor on SA node?
Increased heart rate
Response to stimulation of B2 receptor in GI muscle
Decreased motility; relaxation of smooth muscle
Response to stimulation of alpha 1 receptor on GI sphincters
constriction
Response to stimulation of alpha 1 receptors on bladder
constriction of sphincter
Response to stimulation of alpha 1 receptor on penis
ejaculation
Response to alpha 1 receptor stimulation on uterus
contraction
response to beta 2 receptor stimulation on uterus
relaxation
Response to stimulation of B2 receptors on bronchial muscle.
dilation (relaxation of smooth muscle)
Response to stimulation of B2 receptor on the liver
Glucogenolysis
