Contraceptive pills allow women to plan their pregnancies and family size so it reduces poverty
What is an advantage of fertility treatment?
It helps couples who want a baby to have a baby who are having IVF
What is a disadvantage of the contraceptive pill?
Can cause side effects and some people oppose it for religious reasons
What is a disadvantage of fertility treatment?
IVF is expensive, and it is unethical because embryos are destroyed and it is not fair for older women to have babies
What did contraceptive pills used to have in the olden days and why was it bad?
Large levels of oestrogen that caused huge side effects
What happens in IVF?
The woman is given fertility drugs to produce lots of eggs, and then her eggs are taken and fertilised by the sperm in a petri dish. The fertilised eggs develop into embryos and are inserted into the uterus of the woman
