Severe health problems like type 2 diabetes (high blood sugar)
How can overweight problems be reduced?
By eating less carbohydrate and increasing the amount of exercise
Why do people become obese?
Because they have taken in more energy than they have used
How can people also become unhealthy apart from being overweight?
By being underweight
What causes you to be underweight?
If you have had too little food that you use more energy than you take in
What is it called when people have too little food?
Starvation
What problems may an underweight person encounter?
Deficiency diseases, difficulty to walk, irregular periods in women, reduced resistance to infection
What are deficiency diseases caused by?
Lack of vitamins and minerals
What is an example of a deficiency disease?
Rickets
What does rickets do and what is rickets caused by?
Insufficient Vitamin D and it affects proper growth of the skeleton
What is kwashiorkor?
A deficiency disease which causes a swollen abdomen caused by insufficient amount of protein
