Sensitive
Should not be generally available, it could cause harm if it was released eg medical records.
Sensitive - personal
personally identifiable information that can be traced back to an individual
Sensitive - business information
Information that poses a risk to a business if obtained by a competitor.
Sensitive - classified information
Information belonging to a government body and restricted according to level of security eg restricted, confidential, top-secret.
Non-sensitive
An example of this would be the addresses of shops in a chain, or of the head office.
Public
Information about government and other publicly owned organisations
Personal
Information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.
Business
This can be sensitive or non-sensitive and can include information on products, services, financial information and market research.
Confidential
Information that should be kept private eg new product designs, marketing strategies, annual sales figures of an organisation.
Classified
Public information that should be kept private eg NHS patient information
Anonymised
Has had any information that could link a record to a source removed.
Partially anonymised
Information that has some identifying elements removed from it, often replaced by a symbol. .
Stakeholder
a person with an interest or concern in something, especially a business.
