Information formats
The different ways in which information can be presented using www technologies
Blog
Originally personal journals/diaries but now also used by organisations to demonstrate their expertise by passing on content and information to followers.
Social media channels
Sites that allow users to interact, share comments and generally be social.
Web pages
Fundamental information format on the internet
Dynamic web page
Has content that changes for different users and/or from time to time. They are used where the information is changed frequently, for example, stock prices, weather information, etc.
Static Web Page
Displays the same information, regardless of who accesses it
Podcast
A video or soundfile that can either be downloaded to a device or played online.
Streamed audio and video
High bandwidth required to access, examples spotify, youtube, iPlayer
Document stores
An online document-oriented database is a specific kind of database that works on the principle of dealing with ‘documents’ rather than strictly defined tables of information eg Google docs, drop box, OneDrive
RSS feeds
A small amount of information that may only be relevant for a short time such as the announcement of a flash sale or an advert for an upcoming event.
