A

God “made them male and female”- God intended from the start of creation that men and women should marry.

“For this reason a man will leave”his father and mother and be united to his wife”- A person’s relationship with their spouse becomes the most important adult relationship in their life.

“Two will become one flesh”- Marriage creates a unity that Is both physical and emotional.

“Therefore what God has joined together let no one separate”- The couple are joined together by God and their relationship should be respected by others.

A

Although marriage is important, some Christians believe that God doesn’t want everyone to be married. Jesus himself wasn’t married and some Christians believe they have a vocation from God (for example, being a monk or nun) where marriage is not a requirement.
