why can less common isotopes be used as trackers?
they react the same way in a chemical reaction but can be detected from the most common isotope
how can less common isotopes be tracked?
- some are radioactive - scientists can measure and find the location/amount of radioactivity (carbon dating)
- scientists can measure the differences in mass (determining global temp by using the ratio of oxygen-18:oxygen-16
