A

place of cochlea determines sensitivity to pitch, explains how we hear high pitch sounds. Loud noise causes more damage to hair cells, which causes less hearing

Olfactory system

A

molecules of things travel through the air and into your nose. Smell is the one sense that does not go through the thalamus, brings back memories, especially emotional ones. Women have a much better sense of smell than men. Smelling toxic stuff diminishes the sense of smell.

Taste

A

different parts of tounge taste different things, but all regions detect all tastes. Small hairs do taste, recover after 2 weeks, number and sensitivity decreases as you get older. Kids don’t like greens because they can taste bitter things more.
