Historians suggest that 12k new words from 1500 to 1650 were added because of social, political and other rapid changes demanding new terms/concepts which couldn’t be expressed through English.

From 50+ countries, majority of them are from Latin.

What’s “Inkhorn Controversy”?
A
It’s about one side thinking that Latin and Greek words in English is good and that they are superior, the other thinks it makes the language too scholarly and corrupts the native vernacular.
