Q

what is a histogram?

A

a chart where The Boys touch each other so should be used for continuous data the y axis axes the frequency for each interval

Q

what is a line graph?

A

a graph where the frequency is on one axis (the data must be continuous) and the potted values are joined by a line

Q

what is a scatter graph?

A

a graph used for correlational analysis dots are placed between the two axis and an inference is made about possible relationships between covariables

Q

what is a table?

A

when the data is organised into columns and rows to make interpretation of descriptive statistics easier

Q

what is normal distribution?

A

this is when the measurements you take or gather from an investigation form a bell shaped Curve when plotted by frequency this should be symmetrical

9
Q

where did the mean median and mode lie within normal distribution?

A

they all are at the same point located in the middle area of the curve
as you move away from the middle there are fewer people that the extreme ends and the tails never touch the horizontal x axis has more extreme scores are always theoretically possible

Q

what are skewed distributions?

A

distributions that don’t form such a balance symmetrical pattern, distributions appear to lean on one side or the other because more people are at the lower or upper end of distribution

Q

what is a positive skew?

A

this is where most of the distribution is concentrated towards the left of the graph resulting in a long tail on the right

Q

where did the mean median and mode lie in a positive skew?

A

the mode stays at the highest point of the peak, the median comes next to the right but the mean is dragged right across further to the right because it’s affected by extreme scores

Q

what is a negative skew?

A

this is one majority of the data is concentrated on the right side mean there is a long tail on the left

Q

where did the mean median and mode lie in a negative skew?

A

the mean is pulled to the left this time the mode dissect the highest peak and the median is in the middle
