Q

how does spector’s experiment on types of confirmity and loc provide research support for resistance to conformity and rotter? (strength)

A

157 students, found that externals were more likely to conform to nsi than internals but not to isi. suggests that externals are less likely to resist conformity due to their desire to be liked and seek social approval. thus, supporting the idea that loc plays a role in resisting social influence.

Q

how does twenge et al provide contradictory evidnece for loc and rotter?

A

meta-analysis of studies carried out between 1960 and 2002. over time, people became more resistant to obedience but also more external. if internal loc is linked to resistance as theory suggests, we’d expect people to become more internal. thus, contradicts loc as an explanation of resistance
