What was the role of the Council Learned in Law?
To exploit Henry VII’s prerogative rights to raise extra-ordinary revenue and maintain the crown’s revenue.
Originally headed by Sir Reginald Bray and his associate Empson but Bray was replaced by Dudley after his death.
What were Bonds and Recognisances?
Hefty loans that forced members of the nobility to pay a large sum of money if they were to disobey the King.
What was the Great Council?
This was the gathering of the House of Lords, without the House of Commons.
It met 5 times throughout Henry VII’s reign, usually concerning war or rebellions.

Its main purpose was to pass laws and grant tax to the crown.
