This was the day before the Battle of Bosworth and thus deemed everyone who fought on the side of Richard III guilty of treason.

To unite the houses of York and Lancaster and thus end the War of the Roses.

Why was Henry VII claim to the throne weak?
He descended via his mother’s lineage, which at some point had an illegitimate birth.
He was only the Lancastrian claimant as there was no-one else to fill the roll.
Other claimants, such as the De la Pole family had a much stronger claim to the throne.

The Earl of Warwick was detained due to his stronger claim to the throne.
What were Acts of Attainder?
Acts of Attainder were property forfeits to the crown.
This were given out to Yorkists who fought during the Battle of Bosworth.
This ultimately increased the royal revenue.
What is meant by tonnage and poundage?
Customs applied to imported goods.
Henry VII granted tonnage and poundage for life.
When was the Lovell and the Staffords rebellion?
Easter 1486
Describe the events of the Staffords rebellion.
Lovell and Stafford, supporters of Richard III, attempted to raise an army against Henry VII.
The rebellion was easily suppressed as it lacked support for the Yorkists.
Stafford was executed.
When was the Earl of Lincoln rebellion?
1487
What were the events of the Earl of Lincoln Rebellion plus the Battle of Stoke Field?
John de la Pole, the Earl of Lincoln claimed that Lambert Simnel was the Earl of Warwick and thus had a greater claim to the throne.
Henry VII revealed the real Earl of Warwick from the Tower of London.
Lincoln fled and convinced Margaret of Burgundy to support Simnel’s claim.
The rebels landed in Yorkshire and the Battle of Stoke Field begins.
Earl of Oxford’s army defeats rebels and John De la Pole is killed due to a lack of supporters.
This ended the War of the Roses.
When and what was the Yorkshire rebellion?
April 1489.
Rebels attempted to talk to the Earl but chaos erupted. 8000 royal troops were sent to quell the rebellion.
When was the Perkin Warbeck imposture?
1491-1499
When and what was the Cornish Rebellion?
Warwick exploited uncertainty in Cornwall over tax to raise a rebellion.
Warbecks forces were crushed and he was confined to the tower.
Why was Perkin Warbeck and the Earl of Warwick executed?
They were both beheaded after attempting to escape the Tower of London.
This was convenient, as the Earl of Warwick had the most powerful claim to the throne.
