1.12 Flashcards

1
Q

how could ones genetics increase the likely hood of CVD?

A
  • arteries maybe be damaged easier
  • Hypertension may develop develop which can cause arterial damage (Making CVD more likely)
  • problems with cholesterol balance/levels of the body.

Q

how does age effect ones changes of getting CVD?

A

-As you get older your blood vessels begin to lose their elasticity and get slightly narrower this can cause CVD as blood flows at a higher pressure causing damage to the blood vessels.

Q

How does having a high blood pressure increase the likelihood of CVD?

A

A higher blood pressure will mean that the velocity at which blood travels through the arteries increases.

Therefore you will have a higher chance of developing CVDs as Atherosclerosis is more likely to take place.

Q

How does Inactivity increase the likelihood of CVD?

A

The more active you are the lower the blood pressure. (as the heart becomes more efficient) Also, the more inactive, the more the chance of becoming obese, thereby the more cholesterol in the blood..
