why is water good for transporting substances in plants and animals?
A plant takes in water and dissolved nutrients from the soil via the roots. These substances are then carried into specialized tissues in the plant stem that act as a route for the water and nutrients to be carried to various parts of the plant. In animals water carries nutrients and waste products.
why is water good at dissolving solutes?
Water is good at being a solvent as the water dissociate ionic compounds into their positive and negative ions. The positive part of an ionic compound is attracted to the oxygen side of water while the negative portion of the compound is attracted to the hydrogen side of the water.
what does dipole nature mean in water?
oxygen has a higher electromagnetically than hydrogen, the side of the molecule with the oxygen atom has a partial negative charge.
why is water good at being cohesive?
As the positive and negative charges of the hydrogen and oxygen atoms that make up water molecules makes them attracted to each other.
