  • Not intended to look like the final product, not made from production-grade materials
  • Allows designers to test the functions to see if they work as intended

What is a production prototype?

A

Representation of how the final product would look and function

  • More likely to be made using bespoke parts
  • Materials will be close to production-grade
  • Used to assess alterations that may need to be made before it is commercially produced
