What is a visual prototype?
A
A sample or model which shows the overall shape and size of the product
Does not have any working parts
Tests only the visual impact that a product form may have

What is a proof of concept?
A
A prototype that shows key functionality and the main technical aspects of a design
- Not intended to look like the final product, not made from production-grade materials
- Allows designers to test the functions to see if they work as intended

What is a production prototype?
A
Representation of how the final product would look and function
- More likely to be made using bespoke parts
- Materials will be close to production-grade
- Used to assess alterations that may need to be made before it is commercially produced
- May undergo small user trials before the full production run
