A
Phsycial needs of children are very different to those of the elderly, wheelchair users, disables, blind or deaf people

What people like or dislike, incudin their ambitions
- Understanding these is necessary so the designer can match the product to the consumer
- Brand image and quality is important

Intellectual needs
A
Intellectual needs of consumers must be matched to the product.
- e.g small children are attracted to brightly coloured products, but teens require more stimulation

Sociological needs and values
A
Increasingly more important as consumers become more aware of issues, such as:
- Damage to the environment
They therefore demand more sustainable products
