Upper respiratory tract, tympanic bullae
Transmission of Pasteurella
Direct contact via oral and resp tract
C/S of Pasteurella
Snuffles (atrophic rhinitis), otitis, conjunctivitis, bronchopneumonia, abscessation, genital tract infection (pyometra)
Host response to Pasteurella is dependent on what?
Capsule antigens
Dx of pasteurella
Serodiagnosis nd PCR
Prevention of Pasteurella
Culling of infected animals, barrier housing, rederivation
Furazolidone or sulfaquinoxaline to diet
Tx with enrofloxacin and penicillin
C/S of staphylococcosis
Abscesses, pododermatitis, pneumonia rhinitis, conjunctivitis, interdigital abscesses, mammary abscesses
“Blue breast”
Staph compared to Pasteurella
Staph has higher presentation of abscesses, pododermatitis, mammary abscesses, mastitis
Treponema species
paraluiscuniculi
Transmission of treponema
Horizontal - Breeding
Vertical in some cases
C/S of Treponema
Vulvar and preputial lesions
Autoinfection causes lesions in nose, eyelids, mouth
Etiology of necrobacillosis
Fusobacterium necrophorum
Schmorl’s disease
Infection of F. necrophorum of skin and S/C
Toxin caused by F. necrophorum
leukotoxin
