10- Adrenergic Drug Flashcards
small IV doses of Epi –>
b1 and b2
to increase pulse pressure, Hr, SV, CO and via B2 a decrease in resistance
moderate doses of epi –>
B1/2andA1
B1 increase HR SV CO and PP
but B2/A1 contradict each other
B2 decrease TPr and decrease DBP but A1 increase TPR and increase BP
why is the effect on beta more importannt than alpha in epi?
beta always has higher binding affinity
epinephrine reversal phenomenon
**will be tested
if you block, a or b –> more pronounced response with remaining receptor
contraindications for epinephrine..
patinets using nonselective Beta blockers
can you use epi for anaphylaxis if pt is on nonselective b blcokers?
nope
main cardiovascualr effect of NE
increase TPR (no b2 component unlike epi)
