In Sickle Cell Disease Consider exchange transfusion for:
acute chest syndrome
ischemic stroke
acute intrahepatic cholestasis.
Status epilepticus Definition
Seizures lasting >5 min
or
having > 1 seizure within a 5 minutes without return to baseline
Intussusception consult
Treat as a surgical diagnosis with early surgical consultation, although most cases are amenable to non-operative (enema) management.

ABG
Symptomatic treatment for acute alcohol withdrawal w/ Diazepam
Give 10 mg intravenous, and increase by 10 mg or double the dose every 5-10 minutes. Repeat dose as needed.
Symptomatic treatment for acute alcohol withdrawal w/ Lorazepam
Lorazepam: Give 2-4 mg intravenous. Dose may be doubled every 15-20 minutes.
Administer benzodiazepines for any seizure lasting ≥5 minutes, eg:
Diazepam dose
Lorazepam dose
Midazolam dose
Diazepam 5 mg intravenously
Lorazepam 2 mg intravenously or intramuscularly
Midazolam 10 mg intravenously, intramuscularly, or intranasally
Status Algorithm
1st: Benzo-Lorazepam 2-4 mg
2nd- Keppra 60 mg/kg
3rd- Ketamine/ Phenobarb
4th- Propofol
Management of Provoked Seizures- Hyponatremia
3% sodium chloride, 100 mL infusion over 10 minutes
Management of Provoked Seizures - Isoniazid overdose
Pyridoxine

Isolation Precautions
Digoxin-Fab dose is
10 vials for adults and 5 vials for children.
Adenosine Side Effects
nausea, chest tightness, shortness of breath, facial flushing, headache, dizziness, and a sense of impending doom
