05.2 Liver, Pancreas and Spleen Anatomy Flashcards
What do the left and right triangular ligaments attach?
Superior surface of the liver to the diaphragm.
What does the falciform ligament attach?
Anterior liver surface to the anterior abdominal wall.
What does the free edge of the falciform ligament contain?
The ligamentum teres - remnant of the umbilical vein.
What are the 4 lobes of the liver called?
Left
Right
Caudate
Quadrate
What is the name of the ducts that carry bile out of the liver and what are they called when they converge?
Right and left hepatic ducts.
Converge to form the common hepatic duct.
What duct carries bile to and from the gall bladder?
Cystic duct.
What is the duct that the common hepatic duct and the cystic duct join to form?
Common bile duct.
What sphincter allows for the control of release of the secretions from the common bile duct and the pancreatic duct?
Sphincter of Oddi.
What are the vessels in the porta hepatis, anteriorly to posteriorly?
Common hepatic duct
Hepatic artery
Hepatic portal vein
What forms the hepatic portal vein?
The Union of the splenic vein and the SMV.
What do the left and right coronary ligaments attach?
Superior liver surface to the diaphragm.
What is the duct that the common hepatic duct and the cystic duct join to form?
Common bile duct.
What do the left and right coronary ligaments attach?
Superior liver surface to the diaphragm.
Why does the splenic artery count as an end artery?
Divides into 5 arteries which each supply a segment of the spleen - no anastamosing
What is the arterial supply of the pancreas?
Pancreatic branches of the splenic artery.
The head is additionally supplied by the superior and inferior pancreaticduodenal arteries (from gastroduodenal and SMA).
